Why hello. So, I'm about 180 pounds and only like.. 5'6". Terrible, I know. My dad's a doctor, and sine he's recently lost fifteen pounds (adding to a total of at least 60-70 pounds), he really wants me to do the same. BUT I CAN'T. I don't know why. I've kind of mentally blamed in on some uncontrollable thing, but I truthfully know that isn't the case. I'm a vegetarian too, so I thought asking you for advice would be a good idea.. help? :)
When I was in basketball, we were always taught one thing:
Ignore the voices in your head telling you that you cannot do this. The crowd may be cheering for you or crossing their fingers and hoping that you miss your next free throw, but the only one who has power over whether or not you make this next basket IS YOU.
Before you can even BEGIN to think about losing weight and getting healthy, you’ve got to do a few things first:
- No amount of encouragement will help you if you don’t think you can do this. Believing in yourself is a must! Why do you have a mental block? Why are you saying ‘I can’t’? Why can’t you? You’re strong! You have mental toughness! What is really holding you back from going all in? Why leave your destiny up to that ‘uncontrollable thing’ when you’ve got all the people in the world cheering for you to be strong? YOU’VE GOT THIS, CHICA!
- Do you want this? Will you commit to a lifestyle change and improve your health? Will you set goals and find ways to stay motivated? The question is never can you- because you have the capability to do anything!
- Learn what you need to be successful. If you’ve faced problems in the past, there’s no reason to give up now! This time can be different. Learn what you need to do to get healthy and stick with it!
Right here, right now, take a stand. YOU are in control of you. Not anything else. Forget the excuses and say, “Challenge Accepted!” and believe in the power of the human spirit.
Why? Because you CAN do it. The only question is will you?
