you give the BEST advice! i was wondering if you could help me too. basically, i love sweets. i want something sweet(preferably chocolatey) after lunch AND dinner both days! i feel like part of its pavlovian, trained to want dessert after the meals, but part of its i just love them! how can i combat the instinct/urge but also indulge healthily? any ideas of websites with healthy sweets recipes? thanks so much!!
Chocolate = the root of all evil.
Why? Because it’s delicious and addictive! The worst combination!
Anyways, here’s some ideas on how to combat cravings for sweets:
- Don’t get rid of them completely. Whaaat? This sounds counter intuitive, internet health blogger. Yes, I know. But if you cut out desert after dinner, you will want it more. It’s the want-what-you-can’t-have mindset that kills you! Then you will solidify desert as a treat, making the cravings stronger. Instead, slowly begin making the switch to healthier deserts. Examples: strawberries dipped in dark chocolate.

- Do your best to follow the 80-20 rule. That is, 80% of your diet is healthy! If you can do that, you’ll see results. A treat is okay in moderation, and if you eat incredibly healthy the rest of the day than you deserve a tiny treat! :)
- Lastly, do your best to stop that post-dinner craving for dessert. Try to end the routine! You can still treat yourself, but first you have to end the trigger for the craving. Are you eating enough healthy foods at dinner? What if you just had a scoop of sorbet or some sweet cherries after dinner? Try things out and continue striving for a healthy lifestyle!
Good luck :D
