The Reality of Health and Weight Loss - Hi, how long did it take you to loose all your weight? Im aiming to loose about 45-50 lbs and I honestly dont think I can loose the weight before summer. I have been going to kickboxing and wrestling 6 days a week for the past year and have seen NO results at first I lost 15 lbs but slowly gained them even though i worked out everyday and ate pretty healthy.(no junk/sweets/soda) It is so disappointing, you have no idea. what do you think i should do? Thanks :)

It took me a good 4 months (January 2010-May 2010 for 20lbs; just in time for prom!), but I definitely needed to have done WAY more strength training because the weight started coming back in the summer because my metabolism had slowed down quite a bit. After building up muscle, I’m back in my goal weight zone, so the secret always seems to be more strength training!

As a rule, you want to shoot for losing no more than 2lbs per week, so 45lbs might be pushing it. The reason for this is that you don’t want to start a yo-yo dieting cycle (which can completely screw up your metabolism!).

So my suggestion is more strength and interval training. I’ll be talking more about the weight loss benefits of interval and circuit training next week on The Reality of You, so stay tuned!

And most of all, good luck :)
