The Reality of Health and Weight Loss - Hi there! I love everything you’ve done here. It’s really a great inspiration. I have a few questions about P90X. A few kids in my school have used it and gotten great results, so I don’t doubt its effectiveness at all. But how long are the workouts usually? Do you need weights (and if so of which size)? And do you need to be relatively active before you start it? I’ve recently started exercising everyday and eating healthier, but I feel like I’m not fit enough to handle it…help?

Hi there! I love everything you've done here. It's really a great inspiration. I have a few questions about P90X. A few kids in my school have used it and gotten great results, so I don't doubt its effectiveness at all. But how long are the workouts usually? Do you need weights (and if so of which size)? Thanks :)

The P90x workouts vary in length; most of them are 45-55 minutes long, but that includes warmup and cooldown. You do need at least two different kinds of weights, and I use 15lbs and 8lbs. However, most of the DVDs require very little equipment, so you can start with those first.

Here’s the deal with P90x: It’s intense. Should that scare you away? Absolutely not. Before you start your official 90-day program, it’s a good idea to just do portions of the workouts so you can see what all the programs are like, and so you gradually get into it.

20 minutes of plyometrics = you will be sore for a week. Guaranteed. But the only way you can be ready for the program is if you begin doing it! If you need to take breaks, that’s fine. You won’t be perfect at the first workout, and you may need to pause for water (and to let your heart rate drop to human levels) more often in the beginning.

But stick with it and you’ll see great results!
